This is a good example of a type of small Echizen jar. The thick neck, firm shoulders, and relatively rounded body suggest that this jar was made around the middle of the Kamakura period. The clay is rich in sandy clay, and is well-fired, with a dark green natural glaze applied to the brownish-brown vessel skin.
