Tea master. Born in 1536, he was the first generation of the Yabunouchi school. He was a native of Sakai, Izumi-no-kuni (Osaka Prefecture). He was a member of the Zen master Haruya, who gave him the Dōgo of Kenchū (剣仲). He was the adopted son of Soboe (Dogeno Sunsai). His wife is said to have been a sister of Oribe. Died on May 7, 1627 at the age of 92. The Yabuuchi family has continued the tea ceremony under the name of Shochi through all generations, until the present day, the twelfth generation. The second generation of Shinoh was named Gesshinken, and moved his residence from Sakai to Rokujo, Kyoto at the suggestion of Ryoyo of Nishi Honganji Temple, where he had a special relationship with the Honganji Temple. He is said to be the founder of the Yabuuchi school. At that time, the Yabuuchi school was called the “lower school” while the Sanzenke school was called the “upper school.
