This is one of the most splendid examples of its kind. It has a large gong with a rounded design carved in openwork. The lid and shoulders of the body are also openworked, and the hexahedron-shaped body shows a design of flowers and a figure of a beautiful woman and a galloping horse. This is a rare example of this type of work.
These large agarwood vases were exported in large quantities and many of them have been handed down to Europe. The examples shown here were all imported from Europe in recent years.
