The name “Kaguyama no Etsu” is said to have been named after the poem “The white points hidden in the jet-black color resemble the white clothes hanging on the mountain of Kaguyama,” but it may also be interpreted as a name given to describe its graceful, indescribable round shape. This is one of the seven types of Nonkou Kaga.
It has an unusual iron bowl shape, but at first glance it resembles a Koetsu-style piece, with a thin base, a mountain-like rim, and a simple shape that brings out the unique flavor of Nonkou.
The base is made of clay, and the inside is vividly stamped with the artist’s mark. The tatami mat has three black glazed eyes, and the base has a sharp cut.
