This incense container made of ginkgo leaves in gosu (Chinese lacquer ware) was made by the taste of a tea master who ordered it from China, along with the pine bark lozenge and jiaogulan incense containers.
The shape of the bowl is in the shape of a ginkgo leaf, and it is praised for its good handiwork, making it ideal for use in charcoal making.
The design on the lid depicts a bamboo grass, and the side is decorated with a fisherman’s talk or wild grass in indigo color, which gives a refreshing impression.
In addition to this type of incense container, the design of “Fishermen and Lumberjacks” is also used in incense containers made by Arima’s brush.
The owner of these incense containers was probably a tea ceremony master, and the design of the three types of incense containers is based on a Japanese coat of arms.
It is interesting to note that there are some points that evoke a commoner’s mood.

Gosu lotus leaves
The name “kaba” is derived from the shape of the lotus leaves on the lid.
