Chōjirō: tea bowl, known as "Yugyo", Black Raku

Height 7.1cm, mouth diameter 11.2cm, base diameter 5.6cm
On the back of the lid of the inner box, there is an inscription “Chojiro ware black tea bowl, Rikyu’s possession, Yuuki Sotan (flower seal)” and a note by Sotan, which reads “Suiwa-sama, I have asked you first for the bowl, and now I am going to ask you to write the reasons for the bowl in the box. The outer box is by Kakusai Haraso.
The deep embrace of the lower part of the body and the tightened body are somewhat similar to “Gandori,” and also similar to “Otogozen,” which was handed down to the Hosokawa family as a favorite of Sotosai. The black yuzu has melted well, but it is rare to see a brownish color, a fire gap in a single line at the waist, and red clay showing. The yuzu skin is not shiny and is moist. There are five marks on the tatami mat and a vertical scratch on the waist. This is the first time to be introduced on paper, although it is described in “Raku ware Meimono Chawan Shu”.
