This is one of the few complete Sanage ware of ash-glazed double-eared vase. The ash glaze is thought to have been applied to the entire surface except for a portion near the bottom, which has now completely peeled off. This two-eared vase has one more ear on the lower half of the body, but such three-eared vases are also found in early Sue ware from other regions, and date to the end of the 8th century.
