The fact that this piece dates from the same period as the “Openwork Lidded Vase” described above can be confirmed by the vermilion color of the footring.
Not only are they from the same period, but—though this may be merely my own opinion—they appear to be the work of the same artist.
The expression on the dog’s face, among other details, leads me to believe this.
The highlight of this vase lies in the charm of the Karako motifs on the body, which contrast with the intricate patterns around the rim.
